The VA Is A Bureaucratic Embarassment

The best case against bureaucracy as a means of accomplishing equality is the example of our own Department of Veteran's Affairs, which is currently continuing to deny homosexual veteran families spousal benefits until they figure out how to change their governing policy language to accommodate the Supreme Court ruling; and giving no timetable. To quote Fight Club, "I am Joe's complete lack of surprise"; but this is still disgusting. Imagine where we would be as a country if the veterans had a similar sense of urgency while on duty. VA benefits are NOT a handout - they are the most justified and hard-earned government benefits in the US; despite the stupidity our politicians engage in using our military. The bureaucrats would do well to drop the attitude of treating veterans seeking benefits like ungrateful beggars.
