What BP
did was already illegal and we need to apply the laws to them AND the
bureaucrats who turned a blind eye like we would to any other criminal -
THAT'LL teach others to abide by industry safety standards.
Restricting our economy and civil liberties with more laws that these
giants can neglect will do nothing. "We're too big to prosecute" is the
kind of thinking that led Soviet bureaucrats to allow and then try to
cover up Chernobyl. BELIEVE ME the USSR had harsher negligence laws than
we do, but they didn't apply to the powerful people that mostly broke
them.
